Blended Learning

Blended Learning

Blended learning is a disruptive innovation in education that can take many forms. It is refers to the learning that combine between learning face to face (face to face and computer-based learning (online and offline). The main goal of blended learning is to provide an opportunity for the various characteristics of learners who wan to learn independently, sustainable, and develop lifelong, so that learning will become more effective, more efficient, and more interesting. Blanded learning a formal education program in which a student learns:

  • ·         At least in part through online learning, with some element of student control over time, place, path, and/or pace
  • ·          At least in part in a supervised brick-and-mortar location away from home;
  • ·          And the modalities along each student’s learning path within a course or subject are connected to provide an integrated learning experience.
Blended learning can be grouped into six distinct models that vary by teacher role physical space delivery method, and scheduling. Presented below is primary classification of the blended learning model in use:
1.       Face to face driver: a physical teacher employs online learning in a technology lab or the back of the classroom to supplement.
2.       Rotation: students rotate on affixed schedule between self-pace online learning and sitting in a classroom with face to face teacher
3.       Flex: a course or subject in which online learning is the backbone of student learning, even if it directs students to offline activities at times
4.       Online lab: an online platform delivers the entire course, but in a brick-and mortar location
5.       Self blend: students choose to take remote online courses to supplement their school’s traditional curriculum.
6.       Online driver:  an online platform and teacher deliver the entire curriculum.

Blended learning has three primary components:
1.       In-person classroom activities facilitated by a trained educator.
2.       Online learning materials, often including pre-recorded lectures given by that same instructor.
3.       Structured independent study time guided by the material in the lectures and skills developed during the classroom experience.

Global Education Network

Global Education Network

N
owadays, technology and communication has moved away from merely making our lives more convenient. The rapid development of global technological capacity and abilities create opportunities for students worldwide. Most observers acknowledge that there are barriers associated with technology acquisition and use, no matter what the intended purpose. A lack of knowledge of the possibilities associated with technology often prevents acquisition. Many of the world's economic systems are deeply steeped in a principle of tradition that discourages access to technology.
The Milken Foundation identifies five criteria that characterize a scenario for technology acquisition, informed use, productive output, and contributions to development. Those considering acquiring new or additional technology should consider these questions as a framework.
Ø  First, what is it that technology will do for students and educators that is compelling enough to make all the effort worthwhile? (The Incentives).
Ø  Second, what is it that communities need in order to make informed decisions and wise use of technology and telecommunications for improvements in learning? (Capacity building).
Ø  Third, what is getting in the way of educators and students effectively using technology and how can we fix the system to get rid of these barriers? (System Changing).
Ø   Fourth, what is it that we need in order to ensure that all students have the opportunity to learn in a technology-enriched learning environment? (Mandates).
Ø  Fifth, how will we know it when we see it? What does success look like in terms of student performance? What indicators will we be using? How will the data be collected? What evidence will be analyzed and evaluated against which benchmarks? (Benchmarking) (Milken Foundation, 1998.)
The rapid development of global technological capacity and abilities create opportunities for students worldwide. Where institutions and individuals recognize the importance of education to national economic development, available opportunities are plentiful. The World Links for Development program link in developing countries with students and teachers in industrialized countries for collaborative research, teaching and learning programs via the Internet. WorLD has linked with two organizations, Schools Online and I*Learn to form the Alliance for Global Learning (AGL), which creates sustainable school networking models in developing countries by providing technology, training and support for collaborative educational projects with peers around the world.
The trend towards distance education includes other organizations as well. The International Center for Distance Learning (ICDL) is an international center for research, teaching, consulting, information and publishing activities based in the Institute of Educational Technology which received world class rating in the 1992 and 1996 Higher Education Funding Council for England (HEFCE) Research Assessment Exercises.
The terms “global education” and “educational technology” have been used in varying ways across the Internet. Global learning experiences as any classroom activities which expose young children to new ways of thinking about the world, their own and others’ cultures, world languages, communities, and families. GET is a global education and technology offshore company aims to provide a complete education and technology solutions provided by best selected international and local partners organizations and sister companies to obtain the optimum. GET board members code of ethics focus on the added value strategies based on the following : Analyzing, Planning, Designing, Implementing and Developing Strategies to greater education world, coaching to sustain and seeding to obtain the best student achievements themes that matter through a team of expertise that developed an international platform education program based on international education systems standard
A significant benefit to instant global communications is that students can improve their language skills through student-to-student conversations regardless of where they live.  The introduction of Peer-to-Peer video conferencing using devices students are familiar with can increase personal interaction. And it can be accomplished from anywhere – opening the world to students who do not have the time or resources to travel. And also creates the opportunity for students to build an international network of friends and contacts, for example, helping students to develop business leads, finding new job opportunities, and increasing their knowledge of other countries and cultures
There are some advantages to student using online access including:
  • ·         Choice
  • ·         Flexible and convenient scheduling
  • ·         Pricing
  • ·         User experience
  • ·         Social attraction
  • ·         Safety
  • ·         Privacy
  • ·         Rating
Students who take advantage of online access tools, such as TheTalkList, can use their devices to reach the peers nearly anywhere in the world. They can build contact networks with other students internationally, learn about other cultures, and improve spoken language skills. Global is important to engage young children in an on going exploration of the world. Technology can be instrumental in creating global learning experiences because technology has the power to breakdown geographical, economical, language, and time-zone barriers.
